The creation story teaches us that in the creation lack of self-confidence never existed, because God extended Himself, forming our mind out of His.
Wealth and prosperity as well as finding happiness is in our same loving Will to create as-one with our Creator.
Instead we have learned to make projections–thoughts of our choosing, which are based in the fear of or belief in separation.
This fear holds us back from using our creativity to extend ourselves. I mean for the peace and prosperity we truly want and do deserve.
The inappropriate projection of images occurs when we believe that emptiness or lack exists in us.
Likewise, that lack of self-confidence thinks we can fill it with our own ideas instead of truth.
You might think of it in this way: a projection is sent forth and is separate from us; an extension is a part of us, remains one with us.
The Course in Miracles gives us this profound lesson for overcoming lack and a scarcity mindset:
- “Lead us not into temptation” means: Recognize your errors and choose to abandon them by following your true inner Guide—your Teacher or the real You.”
You may view the projected image of the “Big Bang” or the violation of the “Tree of Knowledge” as the symbol for the separation. This, which occurred millions of years ago.
But in reality was only an instant ago.
Regardless, the following beliefs reflect how the mind of humanity came to separate from God’s. As well, to form projections to make up for a perceived lack.
We continue these steps today due to our lack of self-confidence.
It is this lacking, or scarcity mindset which maintains our illusion that we are a separate identity from that of our all-loving Creator.
A Course in Miracles goes deeper into the meaning of the creation story to teach us even more.
That in the creation, God extended Himself, forming our mind out of His. A “Likeness of Mind,” and giving us the same loving Will to create as one with Him.
Regardless, the following beliefs reflect how the mind of humanity came to separate from God’s. Just as well, to form projections to make up for a perceived lack.
Ever since, the same journey continues, as the world operates from a belief system that teaches we must protect ourselves from what surrounds us.
We feel the world is threatening.
This scarcity mindset cannot think of such things as wealth creation. It thinks there is danger lurking, which has the power to call on us to retaliate.
- That we believe that we can distort the creations of God, including ourselves.
- Also, believe that what is perfect can be rendered imperfect or lacking.
- Too, we believe that what God created can be changed by our own mind.
- We believe that we can create ourselves, and that the direction of our creation is up to us.
These related distortions represent a picture of what actually occurred in the separation. Or we could call it the “detour into fear,” where all confidence seems lacking.

Ever since, the same journey continues, as the world operates from a belief system that teaches we must protect ourselves from what surrounds us.
But it’s the detour into fear where the world seems to be threatening.
It’s this separated aspect in we humans called the ego that thinks it sees danger lurking.
This, which has the power to call on us to retaliate and keeping us from finding happiness always.
Consider the battle over nuclear power as proof enough of the furthering of our defense structures. It’s due to our thoughts, fears, and doubts that preclude our true God Essence.
Final Note on Letting Go of a Scarcity Mindset:
Lack of self-confidence for wealth creation and finding happiness cannot surface on the detour into fear where images of emptiness or scarcity exist in us.
Of course, I’m not blaming the world for my own mistakes caused by my own lack of vision.
I do know that the world can not force its images on me any longer.
